A lawyer specializing in international trade law in its many profiles, with particular reference to export control, international economic sanctions and with a geographical focus on Iran, Islamic law countries and Ukraine. He coordinates the Desk on Trade Barriers and Intellectual Property established by the ICE-ITA in Kiev, since 2023; carries out legal advice and assistance activities for Italian and foreign companies in relation to internationalization processes, such as production relocations, real estate investments and participation in international tenders and contracts, among others in Ukraine, Iran, Afghanistan, Syria, Iraq, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan, United Arab Emirates and Algeria. He has worked in Washington D.C. and Tehran, where he gained considerable experience with reference to disputes between Western and Iranian companies, both in court and in international arbitrations. In this context, he è specialized in U.S. secondary sanctions and in the application of the European Union’s Blocking Regulation. His practice in Middle Eastern countries has also led him to specialize in inheritance matters governed by Muslim law, particularly Shiite law. Avv. Gorji è legal advisor to international chambers of commerce and various industrial associations; è also accredited legal counsel at diplomatic representations in Italy and abroad. He regularly organizes seminars and training courses on export control compliance, restrictive measures towards Russia and Belarus, international economic sanctions, Iranian law, Islamic law. He È authored the first handbook in Italy on export control, the book “International Sanctions, Export Control and Compliance Programs ”, published by Ipsoa-Wolters Kluwer; in Iran, published the Persian-language book “Doing Buiness in Italy” published by Jangal Editions; è was also among the co-authors of the book “World Encryption Controls” published by the British publishing house WorldECR. He regularly publishes various contributions in international trade and export control journals. È Managing Partner of the firm's Tehran office.
